I'm Kevin, the owner of wKw Architect PC, and this is my simple design practice.
March 2022
Please note: I will be limiting the construction documents and project management portion of my practice during 2023 - 24 for teaching and family related affairs. Please feel free to contact me for availibility. Light schematic design and community service assistance will always be available with a timely request.
What I do:
I provide professional design services for residential and small commercial interior architecture clients to help translate their ideas into crafted schematic design packages and study models for contractor review.
Each schematic design exercise provides the client a method of exploring design ideas with professional level plans, section studies, 3d graphics and study models if needed to help a partner contractor develop reasonable schematic pricing before a committed documentation investment.
My residential projects range from single family custom homes, to contemporary multi use additions and accessory dwelling units for age in place or universal design needs.
Custom industrial design and fabrication management with millwork, CNC, plasma cutting, welding or other custom fabriction methodologies within my circle of trade resorces are available.
My commercial work ranges from historic renovations / adaptive reuse, corporate interior architecture and notable public venues within the Washington DC area.
If the residential or commercial work proceeds to construction and permit drawings, wKw is happy to continue the development and management as Architect of record under a design build partnership with an approved Virginia class A contractor. Additional design expertise such as interior designers and engineers would be secured as needed under separate contracts.
Both commercial and permit related residential work must be performed by reputable class A contractors with upstanding reputations and recommendations.
Existing Partnerships

I enjoy work that is creatively challenging and is a postive influence on any existing context. I approach each design problem as a game, and that is what challenges me,...the search for that "sweet spot" solution to a design problem that also conveys a sense of artistic composition within a budget. .
My years as a design educator has let me work with hundreds of students instilling the importance of design exploration and the filtering of temporary design trends that becomes environental waste. My simplified graphics are designed as guides to allow the owner more comfortable interaction within the design process.
Raised in the military, my family and I enjoyed the opportunity to experience a vast range of architecture and social influences while growing up across the United States. My travel and international friendships have introduced me to an array of social design influences and opportunities which have helped developed my interest in rapid install shelters and simplified construction design. Like many of my design colleagues, I am trying to help provide thoughtful, social and environmentally sensitive design for all.
I work out of my light filled, wood burning stove home studio with schematic models suspended in the air with my wife Sandy, where we raised 3 kids, Roxxy the dog and my own ideas for things and spaces that do not exist yet.
I hope you enjoy exploring my site. Thanks for visiting, hope I can help.
